Les Chalets de Maramour

The garden is what makes these cabins feel private, even though they sit in a group. It’s mature and beautifully tended, with a water feature and frogs. Our cabin was both lovely and practical. Check-in was quick, and they let us arrive a little early. They were also very accommodating with our two big dogs, even reserving a terrace table for breakfast. The buffet was great, especially the creamy scrambled eggs made to order. There are plenty of outdoor activities along the Ain river, plus hiking right outside the grounds. The river runs fast and felt a bit scary with our two water-loving dogs, though it would be great for water sports. Recommended if you’re in the area.

The kitchen in the chalet has dishes, a cooker, a fridge and pans, so you can make your own meals. Just be aware that access to it is blocked unless you pay 10 euros. Breakfast is served in the reception building for an extra charge, like at a regular hotel. It’s a relaxing place, and although the chalets are fairly close together, all the greenery between them gives you plenty of privacy.

The Wi-Fi kept dropping on both my phone and computer, and when we first got to the cabin it was really cold. It took almost four hours to warm up a bit, and we still didn’t feel comfortable enough to shower. Those two things need fixing. Otherwise, I think it’s a great place in every way.

The staff were really helpful, and the gardens are expertly cared for. The modern chalets are beautiful, too. Stunning place for the price, and I can’t believe it’s only three stars. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
