A La Ferme de la Joie

I wouldn't recommend staying here. We were taken in by the well-known photos shown when the website first opened, but they appear to date from the early conversion of the farm into holiday cottages and no longer reflect how things look. A couple of friends staying in another cottage made the same observations. That cottage really doesn't deserve the name, and Ferme de la Joie should be inspected to protect future guests. The place is dirty, run-down, and full of broken things. The bedding is mediocre, the pillows are awful, and the sheets and duvet seemed questionable. There was no wardrobe. The bedroom rug in front of the fireplace looked as if it had never been beaten, and four bed legs had simply been thrown into the fireplace. The shutters no longer close, some are never opened, some windowpanes are broken, and doors wouldn't close. There was rust at the bottom of the refrigerator, along with limescale and mold in the bathroom. We found dead insects and lots of dust in every room. Outside, the hedges and lawns were completely overgrown, the deck chair was broken, and everything looked neglected. Rubbish, including old windows, was left around the square, enclosed farmyard instead of being taken to a municipal dump. The large metal entrance gate was rusty and dirty. Today, one woman manages these very poorly maintained cottages.
