The grounds are lovely and planted, and breakfast was a good continental spread. The rooms are large, clean and basic. The owners were very friendly and made us feel welcome.

A simple hotel at a good price, with lovely gardens on the outskirts of Chinon, 3km away. The couple were lovely, as were the three cats and a dog. The rooms were top notch, with hard flooring that felt clean. We'll be back.

Chinon is close by, with lots of places to eat, and several well-known chateaus are within about half an hour. The hotel itself is quiet and peaceful, with clean, roomy bedrooms, though the decor feels a little dated. I’d book directly with the hotel: Booking adds €10 per night.

There’s no restaurant on site, but plenty of places to eat nearby. For a quick stopover, it does the job, and the parking is secure. The stairs may be difficult for anyone with limited mobility, and there’s no lift.

The staff were helpful and welcoming, and the hotel was lovely, clean, and tidy.
