Domaine de Clairefontaine

Laurence has run this family business for over 30 years, and the personal care she puts into the boutique hotel really shows. She took time to chat with me and was so thoughtful with our labrador Bailey, even leaving treats in the room. We had an energizing, relaxing stay, and I liked it enough to recommend the place to my parents-in-law, who are coming in October. There were a few small things that could be better. The room had no directory or phone numbers, so when I needed help with luggage for the car, I had to call on my own phone. Breakfast was lovely, with a fresh à la carte option, though I personally expected a proper barista coffee offering at such a refined countryside hotel and found Nespresso a letdown. I was also sorry the restaurant was closed. They kindly suggested another dining option the day before we arrived, but I had already booked something different.

We'd never been before, but it already felt like home, and we're sure to return. The large room was comfortable, the welcome was warm, and the reception staff were friendly. Dinner at the one-star restaurant was excellent, with the best service of our stay, and we finished with a very good breakfast. Thank you.

We didn't try the Michelin-starred restaurant, but the bistrot a five-minute walk away was quite an experience. The hotel itself has lovely scenery, very friendly staff, and generously sized rooms in the newly built section.

We had a great time here and would gladly return. The service was attentive, the cuisine excellent, and the wines were lovely. A nice hotel with exquisite restaurants.
