Le Cottage De Clairefontaine

The bistro meal was very good, and they were happy to accommodate our two small dogs. This was probably among the best-value stays we've had during several years of trips back and forth to our home in the south of France.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the service was friendly. Breakfast was a disappointment for a hotel that also has a restaurant. We ate dinner at the Bistrot too, but the food wasn't anything special. The presentation felt overworked, while the flavors on the plate just weren't good enough.

We look forward to coming back. The staff were welcoming, helpful, and friendly, and both the food and service in the Bistro were excellent.

The food was passable, but nothing stood out: the vegetables were soft and the tarte tatin tasted reheated. I was also disappointed by the wine list, which felt uninspired for a restaurant in a wine region affiliated with a starred establishment. The room and service details added to the letdown. Our wine wasn't topped up, and no one explained the dishes, including the cheeses on the platter. There were no placemats or tablecloths, and the small bistro-style glasses seemed wrong for an €80 bottle. I came with high expectations because of the Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand mention, but the visit didn't live up to them.
