Residence Eglantine

We stayed at Résidence Eglantine for four nights and definitely recommend it for two people. The host was super welcoming and gave us good tips for hikes and things to do around Cilaos. There’s no breakfast included, but you can order a generous, delicious one from a lady who delivers to different places around town every day. The location is right in the center, with parking available. The beds were very comfortable, there was lots of space, and the shower was very good. There’s also a little kitchen area with coffee and tea.

It was fine.

It’s peaceful here, and being able to cook your own meals makes it a relaxing place to stay. There are also welcoming spaces for visiting family. Thanks for the warm welcome, especially to the employee who was so kind and always smiling. Best of luck!

I found this residence online almost by chance and had very good phone communication with the owner. She wasn’t surprised when I arrived. The house is lovely, quiet, and right in the center of the village, with parking. You can get everywhere on foot. The studio was clean, well equipped, functional, and very nice, with a kitchenette and excellent bedding. There’s a great book in the studio covering hikes and restaurants, better than what the tourist office gave me. I stayed two nights while touring Reunion Island in eight days, but it would really be better to stay longer and settle into a comfortable place like this. The lady running it gave me a very friendly welcome and was there until 3 p.m. Across the street is a grocery shop full of regional products. I highly recommend it if you want to enjoy Cilaos and have the freedom to sort out your own breakfast or dinner instead of staying in a B&B or hotel. Excellent value for money, and a great place to stay in Cilaos!
