Hotel Beaulieu

We picked this hotel for a one-night stay because it was close to where we needed to be the next day. The staff were friendly, breakfast was good, and our room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. They also let us leave the car in the car park until the afternoon. I’d happily stay here again.

For the price, this was good enough. It’s a budget hotel about a 15-minute walk from both the centre and the station. The rooms are simple and a bit run down, but they’re clean, the air conditioning works well, and the shower has good pressure. Staff were really friendly and breakfast was good, though there wasn’t much choice. The Wi-Fi didn’t reach every part of the room, which was frustrating.

We found old soap wrappers from a previous guest in the shower, dark hairs between the sheets, and strange yellow things in the bed. The room was disgusting and very dirty. On top of that, reception didn’t open until much later in the morning, nobody was around, breakfast wasn’t served at the promised time, and the Wi-Fi didn’t work. This was during COVID, too. The receptionist said cleaning took an extra hour because they disinfected the rooms, so how could they still be this dirty, with old wrappers left behind?

The staff were very nice and helpful, and I enjoyed my stay. My single room was small, with a tiny bathroom. It was a bit noisy on the weekend but quiet during the week. The location worked well for getting to the newer part of Clermont-Ferrand, though the airport and Montferrand weren’t as easy to reach.
