On our third day eating at this restaurant, we ordered breakfast, which came with bread and a little jar of jam each. We both got apricot, which isn’t my favorite, so when I went inside to use the restroom I brought the jars along to exchange them for strawberry. There’s a little carousel of jams at the coffee bar, visible in one of the photos here. I explained in French to the woman working there that I was returning two apricot jars and taking two strawberry ones. She nodded without saying anything. A couple of minutes later our server marched over and took the jam away without a word. I explained in French that I’d swapped them for our breakfast, and after he understood, he looked a bit sheepish and brought them back. The first couple of visits had been great, so this was an awful experience. It felt like they’d decided I was stealing, after apparently discussing it among themselves. I was embarrassed and wanted to cry. It was petty and inappropriate, and left me feeling terrible as a customer.

The breakfast was good, though it took a while for them to replenish the food. The hotel feels decadent, but my room was so small, and the bathroom was substandard and tiny. The shower was tiny too, the soap and shampoo were poor, and the hair dryer was broken.

A clean, reasonably priced hotel right in the center of town. The rooms are small and practical, and everyone was friendly and helpful. It’s a good place for a night or two in lovely Collioure.

There isn’t a shared area for games or hanging out, so if you’re traveling with family, expect to spend time in the room. The hotel is right downtown in Collioure, across from the castle. The rooms are quite large for France and the beds are nice, though the pillows are flimsy and don’t offer much support unless you double them up. Breakfast had a broad enough selection to suit everyone, and having your own air conditioner to control the temperature was nice.

I’ve stayed here twice and feel very comfortable recommending it to others. The staff are accommodating, and the location is perfect. Excellent in every way!
