We arrived to find the hotel completely empty on Christmas Day, as if nobody was there. The person responsible spoke French and very little English. After we managed to communicate, he said he'd come around 2 PM. We waited, called when he still hadn't shown up, and found out he was asleep in one of the rooms. He came downstairs in slippers as though nothing had happened, despite leaving 3-4 customers waiting. When I challenged him, he said it was his holiday and that he wasn't responsible. Avoid this place. Spend a couple more bucks for somewhere decent, or, if there's no choice, stay in your car or crash at the airport right next to this so-called hotel. I hope I never see that guy again.

The room was small and simple, but clean enough and fair for the price. The trouble was the hotel staff. We booked and paid on their website for a room for 2 adults and 4 dogs. The booking page said nothing about a dog supplement, so a couple of days before arriving, we emailed to confirm and clearly mentioned all 4 dogs. At check-in they asked us to pay extra. I explained we'd already paid and hadn't seen any mention of a supplement, including in the confirmation emails. The receptionist said they hadn't read the email properly, or they would have told us that 4 dogs weren't even allowed. I can't understand why replying to an email without reading it would be my fault. I understand charging extra for dogs, but that needs to be stated in advance. Staff should read and answer customers' emails properly. Why should I pay because they didn't do their job? Half the staff don't even speak English, and dinner was the most mediocre buffet I've ever seen. I'm not usually one to leave bad reviews, but the staff were mean and rude. Mistakes happen, but basic politeness means apologizing and trying to fix them, especially in customer service. This place is a big no thanks for me.

We've stayed at Campanile hotels and eaten at their restaurants several times, but this is the second one with a shockingly bad restaurant. When we arrived, the dining room was empty, and there was no food apart from snacks. We were hugely disappointed. Someone recommended the cottage pie and salad. The pie was awful, worse than frozen supermarket ones. It came hot outside and freezing in the middle. He reheated it, and it came back dried out. We ordered lemon syrup and water, one of each, but one glass was plain water because he forgot the syrup. They didn't offer bread either, so we had to ask. There are plenty of other restaurants around. I'd choose somewhere else.

The staff were really friendly, and we were happy with our stay at Campanile. It's a great place if all you need is somewhere to sleep, just don't expect much beyond that. The area even has its own Statue of Liberty, who needs NYC? The room felt cramped for two people moving around with luggage. Better insulation would also help keep bugs from getting in and hiding in little holes.

Breakfast at the restaurant cost 11€ per person per day. It wasn't bad, though the savory choices were limited: no eggs, just one type of cheese and a couple of slices of ham. We stayed two nights and thought the hotel was an excellent deal. The room had everything we needed and was very comfortable, especially the bed. The large parking lot was a plus. The walls are thin, though, and you can hear noisy neighbors. Still, a very good stay.
