From the room, I could look out over Little Venice and enjoy the Alsace scenery without leaving the room. The half-timbered exterior was charming, and inside there were cute Alsatian paintings and stuffed animals. The owner was cheerful and went through everything about the room in detail. She also suggested good dinner spots and places to see. English worked perfectly fine, even in France. The tourist sights were easy to reach, with plenty of restaurants nearby. There’s no elevator, so carrying a young child who can’t walk might be tricky, though they said we could leave the stroller at the bottom of the stairs.

We booked three nights in December 2022 and, since cards weren’t accepted, sent half the payment by instant bank transfer. We emailed the landlord the transfer PDF. Two days before arrival, she canceled, saying the money hadn’t come through despite the bank confirmation. As of January 3, 2023, the amount still hadn’t been refunded. We won’t book anywhere requiring Western Union or a bank transfer again. This feels like a scam.
