The staff were really nice and clearly tried to make the stay pleasant. Breakfast was delicious, Contrexeville is a very nice, quiet place, and parking is free. The unpleasant part was the smell of mold through almost the whole hotel. We were first given the wrong room, which we found had already been rented out, and then moved to another one. The hotel looks very dated and has no elevator. There’s no staff in the afternoon before 17:00. We got lucky and someone happened to be there after lots of calls and ringing the bell, but normally check-in is only possible after 17:00, despite booking.com saying 15:00.

The receptionist was very pleasant, but the room was another matter. It wasn't very expensive, but the cleanliness was extremely poor, and housekeeping really shouldn't be neglected in a hotel. Mold was present too, and the bathroom door wouldn't shut, staying ajar. The bedroom window was useless: open or closed, you could hear absolutely everything happening outside.
