Hôtel le Gehan

We booked two nights but left after the first. The family room was shabby and nearly unsanitary, with a smell and cleanliness that were really questionable. The bedding, bedspreads, and blankets seemed as old as the building. The toilet was so cramped that you couldn’t be very tall to use it. There was no soundproofing at all, so when our TV wouldn’t turn on, we could listen to the neighbors’ programs instead. Breakfast had an extremely limited selection; thankfully the bread was fresh, or my family and I might have left straight away. It felt shameful for a place that welcomes the public.

The homemade cordon bleu was good, which was one small bright spot, but it didn’t make up for our major disappointment. Avoid the Cheese Salad: it was six thin slices of cheese on toast with a kilo of plain salad. The prices were excessive, and they don’t accept holiday vouchers or restaurant tickets.

I stayed in a hotel apartment rather than seeing a hotel room. It was okay, but nothing special. Breakfast was generous and good, though the coffee was really bad. The evening menu was somewhere between good and very good.

The staff were attentive, and we had a very pleasant stay in a spacious, quiet room. The restaurant was excellent. Thanks to the whole hotel team. I highly recommend the place and will definitely come back.
