Tivoli en Provence

We stayed here in 2018, and it was the worst holiday we’ve ever had. The hosts kept entering the grounds and the house without warning. When we arrived, we were told we had to pay the balance before leaving. We offered to go to the ATM right away, but they said we could pay before departure. After seeing us in the village on the second day and repeating that, they came to the house on day three demanding payment immediately. We paid in cash. After they left, their two dogs came outside the rental and barked and prowled back and forth. We couldn’t relax with the hosts’ hostility, the dogs being let onto the grounds, and the repeated unannounced visits, so my husband and I left five days early. As we drove down, the dogs ran alongside our car barking. The host had parked in the lane to the rental, so we had to wait for him to move his car. He called the dogs away when he got in. At his house, we handed over the keys and said we were leaving. He didn’t ask why or show any concern. We booked through booking.com, and they seemed completely uninterested. I tried to post a detailed review there, but it wasn’t published in full, and the host sent me a hostile message in reply. I emailed booking.com many times and was disappointed they never responded. I still have video of the dogs outside the property, running alongside our car, and the host blocking the lane. We had such an awful time that we drove ten hours without stopping to reach the euro tunnel and head home. The host may say this is all lies, but guests should be warned. I’ve never seen that kind of behaviour from people running a business.

We’d love to come back. Tivoli en Provence has a lovely stone house with tasteful interiors, a beautiful view, and a cozy feel. The pool area was lovely too, with a clean pool and comfortable sunbeds. It’s a great fit for a family or a group of friends. Françoise was helpful, kind, and discreet, and made a perfect host.

The setting is a real treat, with views over the Provençal hills, especially beautiful at sunset. We loved the clean pool with its loungers and parasols, the shaded dining space with a big stone table, and the well-kept garden with Mediterranean plants and places to sit in sun or shade. Cotignac is only a few minutes away by car, while the farmhouse itself feels peaceful and surrounded by nature. Inside, the old farmhouse combines rustic charm with modern comfort. The stone walls, wooden beams, and tasteful decor made the living and dining rooms inviting, and the bedrooms were clean and comfortable. The linens were good quality, and there were thoughtful touches throughout. We had air conditioning, a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable spaces indoors and out, reliable Wi-Fi, and secure parking on site. Our hosts welcomed us warmly and were among the kindest and most attentive people we’ve met while traveling. They were always available for questions, offered excellent recommendations, and did everything they could to make our stay memorable. From the welcome to the farmhouse, everything was wonderful. It exceeded our expectations and became one of our best travel experiences.

We spent a wonderful time in the pool, and the farmhouse has lots of charming little corners and cozy places to sit. The whole experience felt high quality, and the hosts took such good care of us. Françoise and her husband were friendly and attentive, and the views of the village, monastery, and cliff with its cave dwelling were breathtaking. It felt like a little slice of paradise. We’ll definitely come back with our family. I highly recommend it.
