Hotel Chalet Montegut

The showers didn’t work properly in either of our group’s rooms, and the pool was full of green algae. Staffing was so thin the place felt almost empty. We also saw a blood-splattered cat sleeping on the reception bar. The €35 portions of ready meals seemed to have been microwaved, and the food was still icy in the middle. Disgusting, to say the least. Sadly, our travel group will never return or recommend the place to another group 🥲💩. I’ve given one star only because a minus rating isn’t an option.

We enjoyed the charming old house in the forest and the view across the little lake. Breakfast was very good, too. Dinner didn’t meet our expectations, though. We had the €28 menu, with only one option for each course. The entrée and dessert were OK, but the main course had no taste.

The restaurant was a real highlight. We chose the four-course menu for 31 Euro, and it was worth every penny. Breakfast was simple but perfectly OK, and we enjoyed the pool during our stay. This is a charming little personal hotel, a bit old but full of French country charm. We were warmly welcomed when we arrived, and the service stayed very charming.

The grounds are attractive, tranquil, and well kept, and the location is excellent. Our basic room was clean and comfortable, and perfectly adequate. At dinner the food was delicious and nicely presented, with friendly, efficient service, and good value. The evening reception and breakfast staff were pleasant and efficient, though the check-out staff were a little less so.
