The gondola gets you quickly into the main ski area, and the village has good return runs. There are now several decent local restaurants, too. At half term, the ski school queues ease off after 9:30. The ski schools have good ratings, especially the English-speaking New Generation.

You can buy a ski pass here. Keep in mind that coming back from another resort or Courchevel 1850 means you'll have to take the lift uphill. If you're buying a four-hour pass, make sure to allow time for that.

We loved this place so much that we bought a home here nearly 20 years ago. It's a lovely mountain destination in every season, with plenty of outdoor activities. In winter there's access to the 3 Vallies for winter sports, while mountain bikers can head there too; walkers have the Vanoise National park. For a quieter visit, late spring or autumn brings beautiful flowers and trees, especially the Maples and Beeches.

You can find pretty much everything needed for a well-priced ski holiday here. Just be aware that some pistes feel harder than their colour grading suggests.
