We wished we could have stayed longer. There was plenty to see nearby, and after breakfast we visited Omaha beach before heading on to Mont Saint Michel. This was our first overnight stop in France, and camping among the cows was a lovely experience. The facilities were clean, the price fair, and the location just right.

The site looked idyllic online, so we booked a pitch by email after seeing the photos and reading the reviews. When we arrived, nobody came to the bell, so we looked around ourselves. The place was shabby and untended, with long grass and poorly maintained electricity points. The shower and toilet block was in the middle of major repairs, including an excavation by the entrance, and wasn't appealing even aside from that. It looked nothing like the pictures or reviews suggested, so we left.

The owners don't speak English, which gave me a great chance to improve my French. They're a really friendly family, and I loved the cider they make on the farm. We also had fresh farm eggs for breakfast.

I've stayed at plenty of campsites, and this one felt especially welcoming. They even have a covered tent for meals when the weather is bad, plus a second set of sanitaires for campers furthest from the main facilities. The home-brewed cider is wonderful, and the welcome was memorable. You'll be happy here.

A lovely stay out in the French countryside, with breakfast that includes fresh eggs and milk from the farm. I'd recommend it.
