Camping de Lyon

We found the setting beautiful, and the reception team were helpful both before and after we arrived. It was an easy place to find, late check-in went smoothly, and the amenities were just what we needed for an overnight stop on our road trip with a pet.

We’ll visit again on our next trip. This was our third time at the campsite, which we like for its easy access and great location. The staff are well prepared and nice, and the showers and toilets are in perfect condition, much better than at other campsites. In winter it’s lovely to shower in a warm room. My only complaint is that the pitches have no grass and get really dirty when it rains. They should add some grass and it would be perfect.

We nearly skipped this City Kamp because of some of the reviews, but it turned out fantastic. We came in August and stayed in a two-bedroom lodge that worked well for two adults and a child. Ours was clean despite what we’d read, and the kitchen had everything we needed. The pool area was clean and not especially busy, and the temperature was just right for August. The bar area was tidy and clean, with beer, wine, pizzas and other snacks. We even added an extra night. There’s a large supermarket about a 15-minute walk away. Our Uber from Lyon train station took around 30 minutes in traffic and cost 25 euros. We’d definitely stay here again.

Getting to Lyon by bus is great, and the site has a friendly feel and a good location. On such hot days the pool was a great facility. The main building is lovely, with clean sanitary facilities and a really nice bar/cafe. The disappointing bits were the cold showers and no warm water for washing up. Access to water needs the most attention: there’s just one point for the whole site to fill tanks or barrels, right beside the motorhome sewage disposal. I saw someone rinse out a caravan toilet cassette with the very hose I then had to use for my water barrel. Pretty disgusting. A few extra taps around the site would solve much of this.
