Premiere Classe Lyon Nord - Dardilly

It's conveniently right by the highway, but the air conditioning doesn't work. It was 36°C, with people leaving their windows and doors open. The cooling light wouldn't turn on, and the unit only blew hot air. I checked with everyone I could find, and none of the rooms had working air conditioning. The receptionist was very, very nice and tried to help. She said she'd called the director, but nothing got fixed. I first gave two stars for her, then took one away after lying awake all night before a long drive with my family, having paid 90€. Disgusting and dangerous in summer. Some rooms are moldy and smell bad, too, and if they don't care about this, I wouldn't trust much else to be better. I'd avoid the place. The TV doesn't work either.

Breakfast was good, and the man in charge was kind and caring. That's the only reason for the second star. I'd read the reviews and couldn't believe the rooms could be so bad, since we'd stayed at Ibis budget hotels before and usually found them good value. But both bathrooms were really moldy. Luckily there was no smell, though I didn't want to shower there. We paid 121 euros for two rooms, a dog and breakfast. Cheap or not, bathrooms with that much mold are never acceptable. In one room, there were hairs and crumbs in the bed, so clearly the sheets hadn't been changed. Disgusting. The evening receptionist seemed completely apathetic when I asked for another room because ours had no light. I also asked for a room without mold, but he gave me one with a light and even more mold. I got the impression all the available rooms were like that.

A budget-friendly place a little outside the city center, with plenty of parking right in front of the room. The rooms were clean and well maintained, and had heating. Breakfast was a good spread and well served, from 6:30 to 9:30 AM on weekdays and 6:30 to 10:30 AM on weekends.

The reception staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast buffet was reasonable. The rooms have space, but only two outlets for charging phones. On Sunday morning not a single taxi could come get me for the train station, so I would've been stuck if my family hadn't been driving in the opposite direction.
