Le Rayon Vert

The setting is gorgeous, with a beautiful restaurant, an amazing pool, and lovely views. But the food was a huge disappointment. The three of us each ordered a different fish dish, and all of us ended up throwing up several times and having diarrhea. The mojito was the worst I’ve ever had, too. For the price, I expected the food to taste better.

The open-air restaurant is well laid out, the food is terrific, and the friendly staff can help in French or English. They have menus in both languages, though I’m not sure about others. Our chocolate fondue needed help from the kitchen to get hot, since the little candle wasn’t enough. We’ll definitely return when we get the chance!

Christelle and the staff were friendly and incredibly helpful. During France’s COVID-19 lockdown, Christelle helped us contact the airline and airport to find out what was happening with our flight and see what she could do to help us get on one. She really went above and beyond. The restaurant served the best food I’ve ever eaten. On our last night I had a huge steak with potatoes and vegetables in an amazing French sauce, while my wife loved the different fish dishes she tried. The self-contained chalets have modern decor, loads of space, and the best shower I’ve ever used. They’re set among tropical gardens, where at night all you could really hear were insects and the sea. This is the most unique and best hotel I’ve stayed in. We can’t wait to go back!

We arrived at the restaurant just 10 minutes before closing after checking into the hotel, and hadn’t realized it was nearly closing time. The server was extremely kind and helped us with the menu since we don’t speak much French. Service was fast and excellent, and the food was delicious. I’d recommend both the hotel and restaurant.
