The breakfast was good, and there was a coffee maker in the small room. It had a double bed with a bunk above it. The lighting system could have been better.

The staff were helpful in both French and English, and the hotel is central, clean and comfortable for a budget stay in Dieppe. The ferry is about a half-hour walk away, while the rail station is only a few minutes away. Taking the direct ferry from Newhaven made for a smooth start to our mad ten-day Inter Rail dash.

I was travelling with my dog on the way back to London, so finding a dog-friendly hotel was what I needed. The room was clean, tidy and smelled nice, and the price felt very reasonable for a place that welcomes dogs. It’s not a suite, but there’s a comfortable bed, a clean modern toilet, clothes hangers and a little shelf, enough for a short stay. The location is handy, between the train station and the area with the best restaurants. The ferry pier is a little farther, but an easy 20-minute walk. The catch is that you can’t leave your dog alone in the bedroom, and dogs aren’t allowed in the eating area, so breakfast has to be somewhere else. There are plenty of places to eat along the walk to the ferry, though. The staff were incredibly helpful. When I asked about finding a restaurant, the woman at reception offered to call and check if I could bring my dog. Definitely recommended for a short stop in Dieppe.

Convenience was the strongest point for me, 8/10. The hotel is right in the town centre, close to shops and restaurants, the pharmacy and hospital, the local train station, and the DFDS ferry port. The station is about a five-minute walk and connects to Rouen Rive Driote and Paris. Having a pharmacy and medical facilities nearby was reassuring, and the location made leaving France with my mother less of a drag. For comfort I’d give it 5/10. It’s a budget hotel, but the free WiFi available 24/7, breakfast, comfortable bed and clean facilities made it feel better than the price might suggest. The staff get 8/10 too. They were friendly, calm, polite and helpful with recommendations. One man in particular, white, slim, with dark hair and glasses, stood out as especially polite, helpful and respectful. The other staff were polite as well. My overall rating would be 7 out of 10. It was cheap, efficient and comfortable, and I was glad I chose it. I could have paid more for a more luxurious, comfortable experience, but that would have meant missing places like Paris and Rouen Rive Driote. I wish I could have stayed in France longer, but good things have to end. I’d recommend it for an alright night’s sleep near the station and local facilities. And first, merci and goodbye to France. The welcome was great, and the parts I saw, including Dieppe, Rouen Rive Driote and Paris, were beautiful. But this review is about the egg hotel and my stay there.
