The room was clean, with wooden floors, and worked fine for a night, though it was small. You can only get into the double bed from one side. Puy Beach is about a five-minute walk away, where 500 Canadian soldiers were massacred while trying to storm the cliffs. There’s a maple leaf memorial next to a pillbox bunker. They never had a chance. Brave men.

The beach is only a short walk away, and breakfast comes with local produce. The rooms are lovely, with a luxurious finish, and the place had only recently opened when we visited. Alex and compagnon were genuinely welcoming and happy to help with even the smallest request. It’s good value for the price. What a peaceful haven. Don’t hesitate to book!

The breakfast was a good standard, and this is a beautiful old house that’s been renovated well. The main drawback is how much you can hear from your room, so please be considerate of the other guests. I’d like to come back.

The bed was uncomfortable because of a noisy plastic sheet, and the toiletries were basic supermarket products. The walls were so thin I could hear the person next door talking and even peeing. There was no garden lighting, so I had to use my phone to get out early in the morning. The boiler broke, leaving us without hot water, heating, or any water in the shower, while it was -7C outside. Things like that can happen, but management didn’t respond to calls or messages to either of the provided phone numbers or through booking. After the stay, Alex told me she’d only refund me if I gave a 10 star review. I wouldn’t have given that even if the heating and hot water had worked. Shockingly bad customer service and an uncomfortable stay.
