Hôtel Le Refuge des Sources

The restaurant and bar were a pleasant surprise for both quality and selection. The hotel is at the hot springs site, about a mile from the town centre, and offers good value for the price.

The staff were helpful and the rooms clean, but without air conditioning they became uncomfortably hot. Breakfast had few choices, and the pancakes and scrambled eggs were cold. Housekeeping was minimal.

We weren't sure what to expect when we booked, since the price seemed such good value, but we had a wonderful stay. The receptionist was kind and friendly from the moment we arrived. We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, enjoyed a swim in the pool, and found the hotel outside town well placed for walks along the river. We only stayed one night, but we'd definitely come back to the area.

The hotel staff were attentive and always ready to help. Lola deserves a special mention for making us feel so welcome and making the stay even better. We were there for 10 days on our first trip to Provence and were glad we chose this hotel. It's comfortable, nicely designed, and well placed for exploring the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. There are good spots to relax in the evening, with board and card games for the family. The pool was clean and a good size, with plenty of loungers and shade. Breakfast had lots of sweet and savoury options. Dinner was tasty, though the menu didn't change during our 10 days and had only four starters, four mains and four desserts, so it could feel repetitive if staying more than four days. The bar also serves food, and the pizzas were great. Our room was simple, spacious and nicely furnished, with the hotel's wood-panel look throughout. The balcony overlooked the pool and surrounding hills, and the soundproofing seemed good. It did get hot without air conditioning, but the staff found us a fan that made a real difference. A small fridge and safe in the room would have been useful. We'll definitely return when we're back this way.
