Hôtel de Paris

If parking is part of what you want, you have to ask ahead, though there's no mention of that anywhere. The room is extremely basic, with some light bulbs not working and very weak heating and air conditioning. I'd stay somewhere else unless you're a single guy with low standards and mainly want to save money.

We booked two family rooms that were listed as having air conditioning, but neither had it. When I raised this at the hotel, the staff member thought they had no air conditioning at all until I showed him the website. Now they're saying some rooms have it and some don't, and ours were among the ones without. We're disputing the charge and trying to get a refund. The rooms were dirty, the walls barely blocked any sound, and the location was very noisy. It also felt unsafe: when I went to reception late one evening, the stairs from the car park were wide open. Those car parks had shared access, so anyone could have walked into the hotel. Avoid it.

The room was the size advertised and had the advertised bed, but little else was right. There was no curtain, so reception told us to close the shutter instead. That was fine since there was nothing to see anyway. The heater didn't do enough, and the bathroom lights weren't working properly. The shower was okay for a small or average-sized person, but a tight fit for my husband, who's 6 foot and 220 pounds. In an emergency, this place would do. Otherwise, I'd look elsewhere.

The owner did refund us after I called following our stay, which is why I'm giving two stars instead of one. Still, my wife and I were bitten by bedbugs in a room right beside a tram, and we kept getting bitten after we left, which ruined the rest of our trip. I'd rather never have been put in that situation.
