ibis Styles Dinan Centre Ville

The view over the square is very nice, and the breakfast was small but good. The hotel is right in the center of Dinan, with the town hall car park beside it, which is convenient even though there's no hotel parking. Outside noise took a point off: the windows aren't well insulated, so it could get noisy at night. Still, I'd warmly recommend it.

The staff really stood out: they were friendly and accommodating, and the Wi-Fi worked well. The room was quiet, the air conditioning was fantastic, the shower and sink had good water pressure, and the bed was comfortable. The location is great too, close to restaurants and the castle. The room itself was tiny, even by Ibis standards, and we’ve stayed at plenty of Ibis Styles hotels to compare. The floor is so uneven that I kept feeling like I might trip as I walked around. There are too many doors getting in the way, including one that jammed against the left side of the bed when open. They serve no purpose and should be removed. The comforter was too warm for this time of year, so I was sweating at night even with the air conditioning on. The lighting made the room feel like a cave, and the shelves inside the cabinet by the door aren’t secured. Lean on the front and a shelf tips forward, sending whatever’s on it onto the floor. We’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels over the years, from two-star to five-star, and this one felt average overall. The staff outshone the hotel.

The breakfast was really delicious, and the office staff were very professional. It’s also well located for exploring the city. A very good experience.

The location and easy checkout were the only good parts of our stay. We paid €145 for an awful experience, though it might have been acceptable at €60. Getting into our room was awkward because a huge cleaning cart had been left right outside the entrance, so we had to squeeze past it with our suitcases. There was no direct daylight from the room, which looked onto stairs and a backyard. The bathroom had the same lighting problem, with light coming only from the mirror. Breakfast was another disappointment. At 8:30 am there were just empty plates, one crepe, and a few bits of scrambled egg left. When we asked for more eggs, the staff said they were finished for the day. The hotel’s quality kept declining through our one-night stay.
