B&B My Art House - Douai Centre

We used My Art House as a base while traveling around for two months, staying there on and off because my mother lives in Douai. Nathalie and Marc were gracious and flexible whenever our plans changed. The house was very clean and felt safe while COVID was in full swing. We could cook in the kitchen, do laundry, and enjoy Nathalie’s famous breakfasts, so it felt like home. The location suited us too, near the train station and served by Douai’s free Binbin bus for days we didn't want to walk. My sister recommended it, and I do too. I'll be back!

The hosts are really attentive, and the rooms have large, comfortable beds. Breakfast was very good too. A lovely place to stay.

The room was nice and the hostess was pleasant in person. She doesn't speak English, so we communicated by phone, which wasn't an issue for me. The trouble was paying: I couldn't pay there, and she couldn't or wouldn't say whether the charge would come automatically from my card. Later I received an invoice with an IBAN, so I tried to get in touch to avoid paying twice. My calls and emails were ignored, which almost made it seem intentional. I would normally have given full marks, but payment problems afterward mean I won't book again. Edit: the card had already been charged. If I'd also paid the invoice as instructed, I would have paid twice. So it seems this was done on purpose.

Nathalie was a lovely, helpful host, and the stay was perfect. I'll come back.
