We had no hot water in the bathroom all weekend, and the owners never apologized or tried to sort it out. The food was as cheap as it gets, with no fruit or vegetables that we saw, and breakfast even had plastic-wrapped slices of processed cheese. For the prices, especially the drinks, this place is nowhere near four-star quality. There were rules everywhere, and it felt like the owners didn't want guests around. They played loud music in the living room while we were talking. When we asked them to turn it down, they sat between us and said it was their living room. I also felt they disliked most nationalities. That gives Flemish Belgians a very bad name, which isn't fair to the rest of Belgium. The owners seem focused on funding their own lifestyle, without offering value or service. Avoid this place.

The garden is lovely and spacious, with a pool where you can relax or read. If you enjoy cycling, ask Pieter for a GPX route. He'll gladly share a pleasant ride that lets you see the region differently. There are also plenty of picturesque villages about a 15-minute drive away. We enjoyed our stay at "Joie de Vivre": Pieter and Isabelle were wonderful hosts. Isabelle's cooking is worth enjoying at least once, and champagne tastings are another treat. We recommend Falmet and Monial, whose production methods are quite different.

Pieter makes you feel at ease right away, and shows you around the building and nearby grounds. It's a lovely spot for peace and quiet. Isabel takes care of breakfast and dinner, both delicious. When the weather's good, dinner outside around a table with all the guests is magnificent. Wine lovers can easily reach Champagne, Alsace, and Burgundy, each within a 1-2 hour drive at most.

Peace and quiet, with Champagne close by, are the main draws here. Pieter can point you toward the region's best Champagne houses for explanations and tastings, and he has plenty of wine gems of his own to share. The estate has been in Pieter and Iabelle's care since 2017, and feels like a calm oasis away from the highway. Guests share the good things the B&B offers in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. Meals are worth having: there's a fresh menu each day, using fresh ingredients or things made in-house. Iabelle makes her own bread, puff pastry, sauces, soups, ice cream, cakes, mousse, and more. It's a shame to go searching for a restaurant. Guests are welcomed in Dutch, French, German, or English.
