Chateau de Drudas

The chateau was beautiful, and the food was really fresh. We had a lovely three-course lunch, though we were in a hurry and needed to get through it all within an hour. The staff looked after us and made sure we could finish in time.

The room was beautifully decorated, though very cold, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was tastefully fitted out too. It’s clear the hotel put a lot of effort into decorating some rooms and making the entrance impressive. Dinner was a letdown. Most of the food was cold, and there’s quite a distance from the kitchen, which looked impeccably clean, to the dining room. I ordered a bottle of local 2018 wine, thinking it might have aged a little, but they brought a later year. I was really irritated that they weren’t going to mention the difference until I pointed it out. I chose the cheese course, only to be told when it arrived that there was just one kind available. The food wasn’t four-star quality. Very disappointed.

For us, the standout was the exquisite food included with our half-board stay. The chef’s Michelin star, earned at his restaurant in Condom, is well deserved. We also enjoyed the sauna and jacuzzi as a family, and our room was discreetly serviced and impeccably clean. Chateau de Drudas is a lovely boutique hotel in beautiful southern France, with a tastefully restored chateau and gorgeous surroundings. The staff were extremely helpful, professional, and friendly. We understand an outdoor pool will be added, which will be terrific.

Our ground-floor room was spacious and well equipped, with tasteful furnishings and a light, airy feel. The gardens were neatly kept, and the location was pleasant. Staff were polite and helpful, and the menu and wine list suited the well laid-out restaurant. Chateau is excellent value and a very good place to relax and recharge. I shall Ceri visit again!
