Le Transat Bleu

The room was clean, breakfast was good, and the owner was really friendly. It’s just a short walk to the shoreline. The area was quiet when I visited, though that was off season. Good value for the money.

We had a really nice stay and I’d recommend the hotel. The view from the balcony makes up for its average feel and the slightly damaged table. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, though the bathroom was small. Prices seemed fair and the service was very nice. The walls let through a lot of noise. The baby cot was a basic folding travel cot, and its mattress was so poor that it was basically useless. With a decent mattress, that wouldn’t have been an issue.

We paid about £40 per person per night for bed and breakfast, which felt reasonable. There’s plenty of free on street parking, and the Op Dynamo museum is within walking distance. The host speaks English. The place was being refurbished during our stay, and we had a comfortable bed for the night while exploring the area. Breakfast was decent.

The staff were very friendly, and the restaurant food was great. The breakfast was good too, though it cost extra, 10 euro for adults and 6 euro for kids. Our balcony faced away from the beach, which suited us because it was warm and very windy. It’s a 2 star hotel, but I think it deserves more. The main issue was the small, worn bathroom, which needed repairs: running water, a loose paper holder and a loose toilet seat. The location is excellent for the beach, museums and restaurants, and Fort des Dunes is a 12 minute drive away. The beds were good, but the walls were thin enough that we could hear the neighbours.
