Hotel Le Rayon Vert

The hotel is right by the beach, between the Aval and Amont cliffs, so the location is hard to beat. If you can, get a sea-view room. Sitting on the private balcony to watch the sunset is lovely.

The staff were welcoming and helpful, and my balcony room had beautiful views. It’s comfortable and has an old-world charm. I was there during the week, so the nights were quiet. I’d happily return.

Breakfast was simple but plenty for us: fresh, tasty bread and croissants, jam, cheese, ham, yoghurt, and an egg you can boil yourself. Our room upstairs was small and cosy, with a feeling of sleeping somewhere legendary. The sea view was overwhelming. We stayed on the top floor, though I think the floor below, with its little balcony, might be even more perfect.

It’s an expensive, historic hotel right on the seafront. A sea-view room is the one to choose, and if the sun cooperates, you can spend the evening on the balcony. The room was well appointed, with a Lupin novel as a nice little touch. Parking can be tricky, so ask reception for pointers. Breakfast was good, though the dining room felt a bit gloomy.
