Hôtel du Palais

The staff were welcoming and helpful, and breakfast was tasty. The room was nice, and the hotel was spotless and comfortable in a great location. Lovely stay!

Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. They’re dated and a bit tired in places, but the rates fit a budget hotel. The staff were really friendly and tried to help at every turn. The location couldn’t be better. The photo with this review shows the hotel street, including the blue Hotel du Palais sign. Parking was easy to get to from the hotel and felt very secure. I’d absolutely stay here again if I return to Evian. We understood that check-in started at 3pm, but when we came by at 1.30pm to drop our bags, reception was closed until then. We had to use a different car park until 3pm, pay its fee, and then pay the hotel’s 11 euro daily charge after checking in. Wifi in our room was very patchy since we were at the end of the hallway. The manager found out on checkout day and seemed keen to fix it.

We were in town for the evian golf and might have been the only Irish people there. This is the best 2 star hotel in France! It’s not fancy, but everything worked. Michael was really helpful and great fun, and he makes great eggs at breakfast. Perfect location, with plenty of nice bars and restaurants close by. We’d definitely return 👍😎

I’ve been coming to the Haute Savoie for years to trek sections of the fantastic GR5, and since around 1996 I’ve always stayed at the Hotel du Palais. It feels like home to me. When I travel, I don’t want a generic hotel that could be anywhere, and Palais has kept its French feel because it isn’t a chain. Over the years I’ve got to know the two fantastic managers, who have always done everything they could to make my stays happy. I thoroughly recommend the hotel du Palais in Evian. Dr Jonathan Hare
