The dinner was amazing, all homemade with fresh ingredients, and we started by sharing an aperitif with the owners. Since we were the only guests, they had plenty of time to chat with us. Breakfast was perfect too. This family-run B&B has passed through generations, and you can see that in all the old heirlooms. It may not be luxurious, but it’s one of the most welcoming places I’ve stayed in France. A real hidden gem. We’ll definitely come back. Don’t believe the one-star reviews, they do what they can with what they have. Amazing!

A traditional, homey B&B château in Vendée, with none of the pretension. The host was friendly and often humorous, and was keen to share their experience and offer excellent advice. I enjoyed the visit and plan to return on my next trip.

We stayed in the Duplex Tower room, which suited us perfectly. It was a good size, with comfortable beds and nice pillows. This is an old château, so don’t expect the bland feel of a Travelodge. The owners gave us a great welcome, and breakfast was super. We had a lovely two days while visiting Puy du Fou, around a 30-minute drive away at most. There are nice towns nearby for food if you’re not eating at PdF.

What a nightmare. We arrived early and were greeted by an angry, decidedly unhelpful man. After a while, he let us in to see the room, but when we said we wouldn’t stay, he got angry and locked the door, refusing to let us leave. He kept insulting us even after we said we would pay. Booking.com is handling the complaint. The château was very run down, a disappointment on so many levels. 🤨

We had an enjoyable stay with friendly hosts. It was nice to visit the beach at les Sables d'Olonne. Puy Du Fou was disappointing, though, crowded and very expensive.
