Chez Jeannette

Dinner was the highlight. We had kirs with a generous pour of Cassis, then beautifully cooked, freshly made food that was perfectly seasoned and served with real confidence. It felt Michelin star quality. The dining room has bright linen covered tables and silver cutlery. Our room was quiet and the double bed, duvet included, was very comfortable. The short curtain used as a headboard wasn't great to lean against, though they had thoughtfully provided a cushion. There was an old, large radiator, but we couldn't tell if it was giving off heat. Still, we never felt cold. The bathroom setup was mostly fine. The toilet was separate from the shower room, with no natural light, which could feel cramped if you're claustrophobic. There were soap dispensers by the sink and in the shower, plus tissues. The shower floor sloped uncomfortably toward the drain, and the fixed shower head, at about 1.65m, was only useful for very short people. It should be raised by at least 30cm. The shower itself worked well, and a quiet extractor kept the mirror from steaming up. We arrived just after 16:00 to book in, but the door was locked because service times are limited. When we came back later, the welcome was cordial and we were shown to our room. After a very good night's sleep, we had breakfast, served from 8am to 9am. There were two good sized croissants, fresh bread, plain yogurt, fresh fruit, eggs to boil, charcuterie, fruit juice, butter, honey and strawberry jam. Coffee came from a machine with instructions above it. I only spotted one cereal, which looked like some kind of chocolate covered cereal, and the Emmantal cheese sachets were hard to open. Nice place, lovely people. With food this good, we'd likely come back.
