Holiday Home Domaine la Batisse

Breakfast was served in a lovely little room filled with antiques and objects connected to the hosts’ work and interests. It was generous and complete. Our room had traditional furnishings and a lovely beeswax scent. The place feels unique and charming, with a rich family history behind it.

Caroline’s horses are fantastic, and she handles them gently, without pressure on the mouth, which I personally prefer. She adjusted the ride so it worked well for riders at every level. The property is beautiful, too. Her tip about the old-fashioned butcher shop in Lespignan was amazing. Such a great horseback experience, thank you!

The setting is magnificent, and I’d happily come back. We tried their specialties, and for a first year the main course and dessert were quite successful. The only part that didn’t really work for me was the vegetable carpaccio starter. It’s a trendy idea, but I don’t go to a restaurant to peel my egg and slice my tomato. Still, that was the one downside, and I recommend the place.

Naïs shared so much about tradition, family, and the things that make nature beautiful. Her knowledge and explanations made us feel as though we’d stepped into a world that hardly exists anymore. The buildings are beautiful, the welcome warm, and the place felt almost magical. She took us on a journey. We hope to come back.
