Hv Tel Chv Teau La Chv Ze Bordeaux Floirac

Dinner was full of flavour, and the cocktail was great. It wasn't a busy evening, but the chef was working alone, so credit to him for handling it all. I loved the hotel: a historic building away from busy Bordeaux, with plenty of green space, just what I wanted. My room was large, with a garden view from every window, parquet flooring, and a four-piece bathroom. The staff were lovely and patient while I practised my French. Ashley from the breakfast bar, the receptionists, and Lilly and Gael at the restaurant were all friendly. I really couldn't complain. It made for an amazing birthday, and I couldn't have asked for a better one.

The splendid park is a big part of what makes this a really nice hotel. There was a mix-up with my reservation, though: I'd booked a suite and a double room, but when we arrived, someone else had been given my suite. The staff tried to make up for it by offering us a great breakfast. I still regret the mix-up, and I can't comment on the suite itself.

Breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The château itself is very nice, but my room, number 14, was only average. It's at the far end of the outbuildings, and the shower had no hot water. There was also a bad smell coming from the toilet.

The gardens are gorgeous, and it's a beautiful château for a wedding. The dining area can feel a little cramped, but I'd recommend visiting if you get the chance.
