The location is very central, and we had a spacious room with a comfortable bed. But the room feels worn, and the roof terrace attached to it was shabby, with paint needed and half-dead plants. We only found the terrace by chance because it isn't clearly signposted. At reception, the staff member didn't face us while speaking, and renovation noise made it hard to hear her. When I politely asked her to repeat herself, she was immediately abrupt. Nobody offered to help with our bags. Parking costs an extra €20 per night and breakfast is €25 per person, which seemed too expensive, so we parked nearby and skipped breakfast. I also don't understand the four-star rating or the “spa hotel” name, as there are no spa facilities. We visited in April, which is off-season, but that was still the situation.

The village is lovely and well placed for exploring the south, and the outdoor areas have lots of spots to lounge. The pool, though, didn't look very clean. Our standard room was tiny, with just one chair, no place for luggage, and a view of the parking lot. I'd suggest upgrading if you stay here. Breakfast cost €23 and felt limited for that price. For a four-star hotel, I expected more in both service and amenities.

The three-course dinner was excellent. We were with a Danish travel group and got a lovely room, though it took some effort to reach, up two flights of stairs and along a long corridor. The bathroom had a stunning view over the surrounding area. There was another shower room behind the bedroom. The toilet had no hand-washing sink, so we had to go through the bedroom to use the bathroom.

The staff we did meet kept smiling and tried hard to help, but there simply weren't enough people for reception, breakfast, the kitchen, and the other services. No male staff member was available to carry our heavy suitcases up to the room on the third level when we arrived or back down when we left. And why is the restaurant closed? With enough staff, we'd have given the hotel a top overall grade.

Dinner was out of this world, so fresh and served with local wine. We loved La Regalido, from the wonderful service to the peaceful seating in the courtyard and the pool area. A fantastic outdoor dining experience and just a great stay.
