Auberge de Forgès

We were seven walkers staying on demi pension for five days. We loved the area, but wouldn’t return to this establishment. There was no reception; a chef handed us our room keys, and the Wi-Fi information was out of date. Dust and cobwebs made the cupboard unusable. There was plenty of food, but stale bread left over from lunch was served at dinner. We had to enter through the washing-up area, which was neither clean nor tidy. The evening before we left, we were asked to pay. An inexperienced waitress struggled with the card reader while a mouse ran along the bar. It looked as though our card had been charged twice on two machines, causing confusion with the owner the next morning. She refused a cheque and expected me to use another card, saying “everyone carries many cards.” Perhaps not.

Really, really good.

The French food was a real pleasure, especially the lovely salads and soup. There’s a good vegetarian menu too. Nice atmosphere and very friendly service!

The service was phenomenal, honestly couldn’t have been better. The little patio out back is lovely.
