Hôtel particulier Le Mercier de Montigny -Une nuit sur les remparts-

This palace turned hotel was the highlight of our whole trip to France, without exaggeration. The rooms have an almost medieval look, and the view of the castle is incredible. The city is a hidden gem, and if you spend a night here, this hotel is a must.

Lucile was such a delightful host, welcoming and accommodating throughout. We arrived later than expected, but she was flexible and still gave me a wonderful massage quite late. She also let us do some laundry for our cycling gear, and the covered bike storage is secure. The rooms are huge and very comfortable, and the breakfast was spectacular, with a spread Lucile made herself: eggs and bacon, crepes, French toast, homemade yoghurts, and jams. It’s fantastic value, and we’ll certainly be back. The house is beautifully kept and ancient, with some walls forming part of the 15th century castle ramparts. It’s centrally located on a quiet street, with incredible views across the valley and of the castle. Highly recommend.

Absolutely loved my stay here. The room was beautifully decorated and charming, with incredible 360-degree views of the castle and key points of interest in this medieval town. The owner was so kind and sweet, and made an amazing homemade breakfast in the gorgeous, antique dining room. There were eggs, bacon, crepes, yogurt, and so much more. What an absolute gem of a B&B. If you’re visiting Fougeres or nearby towns, this is the best place to stay in town. It’s one of my favorite experiences.

We had a wonderful one-night stay. The room was perfect, the view of the castle was truly amazing, and the town has a quaint charm. Our host was impeccable, and her relatives gave us a sweet greeting, especially her chatty niece. When I said hello as I was leaving, she giggled. My French isn’t my strong point.
