Des Ducs Danjou

Room 61 was the worst part of our stay, and I’d tell people to avoid it. We got a refund for that first room because no one should have to stay in it, and it needs repairs. The front desk lady was nice, but acted as if she had no idea about the mold. The room was tiny, smelled moldy, and had mold on the ceiling. The paint or wallpaper was bubbling from damp, and the dusty, never-cleaned air vent blew dust into the room. The duvet had yellow stains and looked unwashed, with parts sticking out from its cover. There wasn’t a shower, just a tub with a handle, so you had to sit in it to wash, and there was no curtain. We asked to move. The other rooms weren’t good either, but after a day they gave us an okay one. It still smelled of mold, and its tiny shower curtain let water spill all over the bathroom floor. This was our worst hotel stay ever. The only good thing was being right by the metro.

The rooms and furniture were very old and extremely small, and there was a damp smell everywhere. We found mold and moisture in the room, as the attached photos show. Management wouldn’t let us cancel the reservation. At best, I’d call this a one-star hotel.

The room was small and dated, but clean and had the amenities we needed. We were basically there just to sleep, and for the nightly price it was excellent value. The staff were pleasant and knew their stuff. We stayed over Easter weekend, right in a lively part of Paris with lots of bars and restaurants. That was exactly where we wanted to be for evenings out. I’d recommend it if you’re planning to explore and will only be in the room to sleep.

We’re nervous travellers and found the city overwhelming, but this hotel felt safe and like home. The room was cozy, the bed comfortable, and the air conditioning handled the 30+ degree heat perfectly. No complaints. Check-in was easy, and they took our bags up before we came back later that day. At checkout we were panicking because we couldn’t sort out transport to the airport. The woman at the desk explained exactly how to get to the train station and which stop to take.
