LE COSY LOIRE appart

A great stop on the Loire, with parking right outside and a café, bar, and baker's across the road. The service was friendly and efficient. Our room was lovely, spotless, and well equipped with tea, coffee, water, tissues, and a TV. The bed was very comfortable, the aircon was great, and the double glazing kept out all road noise. Les Rosiers sur Loire was a nice place to stay, and a good base for exploring the area. Saumur is close by, with plenty to see, and there are wonderful walks along the Loire. Sophie, the owner-manager, was friendly and welcoming. The small hotel was bright, clean, and recently renovated, and we had a very agreeable stay despite the pandemic restrictions, which were carefully followed. We stayed three nights, from May 31 to June 3, 2021, as a couple, soon after the spring relaxation of confinement. Many Covid-19 rules were still in force, though guests could eat in the restaurant. We especially enjoyed breakfast and dinner. The menu was limited to one option at the time because of Covid-19, but the food was varied, excellent, and reasonably priced as demi pension. Drinks were reasonably priced too. We were very satisfied customers.

The food is great, but the atmosphere felt old and a bit cold. The person handling seating, possibly the owner, wouldn't answer or look at us and just pointed to a table. She didn't smile, and spent much of the time criticizing the new waitress, who was doing a great job and trying to keep smiling. It's a shame, because the place has what it needs to feel welcoming. A few other things bothered us: being served the last slice of a terrine felt rude; the sparkling water bottles were kept somewhere they picked up visible mold, which could put people off; and they could have served fresh bread. When we asked to pay contactless for an amount that works perfectly, we were told we were dumb.

The food was excellent and nicely presented. The rooms are simple but comfortable.
