ibis styles Paris Gennevilliers

Yanis was a real bright spot. He was pleasant and patient, helped us find the Metro and get tickets online, and had exactly the charm you'd hope for at the front desk. I hope the hotel recognizes him, and thank you, Yanis, for such a kind attitude. My disappointment is with Europatours, who put our tour group in a low-budget hotel even though we'd paid enough for better quality. That's not Ibis Styles Gennevieller's fault. For a hotel in this price range, they did what they could.

Housekeeping was the one thing that consistently worked well. The room and beds were clean, towels were changed, and staff tidied up. The location was good too, just a five minute walk from the RER C, with frequent buses at the station. The area was quiet and didn't feel unsafe at night. The bathroom had a strong sewage smell coming from the drains. Running water through them for 10 minutes eased it, but the smell soon came back. The air conditioning was broken, and the fixed-height portable fan couldn't reach the beds. There's no kettle in the room either. At night, reception wouldn't let us have drinks from the coffee machines or juice, and the receptionist said hot water wasn't available. When we asked again, he told us to put back the ceramic cups we'd picked up because, quote, “I don’t want to do the washing”. He gave us paper cups with hot water that tasted of coffee, flushed from the machine, and it was awful. Staff during the day were pleasant and helpful, so that one colleague was a letdown. We stayed at ibis styles at Meteor d’Italie earlier this year without any such problem and would recommend that place instead. Breakfast was a small spread, though we weren't in Paris for the hotel breakfast, so I can't fairly judge it. The room was otherwise clean, but with those problems I'd stay elsewhere to avoid spoiling a Paris trip.

The staff were accommodating, and breakfast was good. We stayed here twice and would come back. It's an affordable budget option, with a quick 20 minute RER ride into Paris.

The secure parking lot was the only reason I'm giving it an extra star. We booked for one night in Paris, but the bed had disposable sheets and breakfast came with ice-cold scrambled eggs. If either of those bother you, avoid this place.
