At first, everything seemed promising: a beautiful chalet in the hills above Gérardmer, ideally located, with a lovely view of the lake. Then we found the fridge and dishwasher were broken, and two of the four burners didn’t work. The sofa sagged so badly it was hard to get up from. The owners had left no dishcloths, towels, soap, or dishwashing liquid in the chalet. Given the price, that’s frankly unacceptable. I don’t expect luxury, but the owners could at least keep the chalet properly maintained.

Falling asleep to the sound of the water was magical, and they left a nice little welcome gift. The chalet is really nice and works well for children, but the sofas aren’t comfortable.

We had a very pleasant stay in this functional chalet, with a lovely view of the lake and the sound of nearby streams. The owner was friendly, and the rental was excellent value for money. We highly recommend it.

A tidy little house with separate shower and bath, plus two toilets, one upstairs and one downstairs. It’s suitable for eight people, but nothing spectacular.

The fireplace is especially nice, and the chalet has a superb view of the lake. It’s a top place. I recommend it!
