La Rotisserie du Chambertin

The staff were absolutely top-notch, friendly and helpful, and the location was great. I was just passing through Burgundy and stayed one night. The room was decent, but there were no towels when I arrived, and there was some mold in the bathroom. I told reception, and they dealt with it professionally. The room could use better upkeep.

The restaurant was excellent, with imaginative food, though the wine was a little overpriced. Reception service was excellent too. The room was good, but the water never got more than warm, whether in the evening or morning. That took the edge off what was otherwise a pleasant stay.

The food was beautifully presented and well prepared, with the ingredients taking center stage. I loved the goat cheese amuse-bouche, even though I’m usually not a goat cheese fan, and the fish course was perfectly done. But most dishes arrived lukewarm, which really let things down. The pork fat on the main course went cold before we could finish it and became unpleasant to eat. The pork flavor was also quite intense, though I can imagine others liking it. We had Saturday lunch at Table d’Hôte and the setting was beautiful. From the building’s architecture to the tableware, the restaurant is stunning, balancing rustic charm with sleek modern elegance. Service was the biggest disappointment. The sommelier did a great job with the wine pairing, but the rest of the team didn’t seem especially engaged or interested. The experience felt cold and distant. Nobody was rude or unprofessional, but given the restaurant’s reputation, we expected staff to seem more motivated and focused on guests.
