Hotel Restaurant La Musardire

We stopped at Monet’s house for lunch on our way from CDG to Normandy, during our family’s annual trip. There were 15 of us: two grandparents, six parents, and seven young adult grandchildren, traveling through Normandy and Brittany this year. Le M Bistro was a lovely find. The menu made it easy for our group to choose à la carte or go with the special lunch menu. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

The food was spectacular, and the location is only steps from Monet’s gardens and the village. Our stay at La Musardiere and the gardens were the highlight of our 12-day trip to Paris. If I could change one thing, I’d stay an extra day. Double thumbs up!!!

This is just about the restaurant, we didn’t stay at the hotel. The food was okay, but the slow, out-of-sync service made the whole place feel stressful. I wouldn’t go back or recommend it.

We only ate at the hotel restaurant and weren’t staying there. I was surprised by the bad reviews because the food was delicious, the host was friendly and accommodating, and the patio and gardens were delightful. It had a beautiful, serene feel, just right for a leisurely dinner in the heart of Giverny. Service was excellent, much better than across the street at La Parenthèse, where it was terrible. The kids’ menu, grilled chicken or fish croquet with mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables, was really tasty, and the kids ate nearly all of it. We had a lovely evening and meal, though looking back, this upscale restaurant probably wasn’t the right choice with our kids. We felt embarrassed because children in France are expected to sit quietly through meals, while in Canada it wouldn’t be unusual for kids at a summer patio restaurant to play and laugh in the gardens as their parents ate. The staff kindly brought our kids a few garden games to use in the field, which was thoughtful. We’d recommend the restaurant and eat there again, but probably wouldn’t suggest taking young kids unless they’re exceptionally well-behaved.
