Hotel Campanile Amiens - Glisy

The outside doors give each room more privacy, and Campanile Amiens feels relaxed and informal, much like other Campanile hotels. The door closer, though, is far too strong. Getting in and out with a suitcase was a real struggle, and it nearly swept me along the gallery. All in all, I think it’s a great place to stay, despite that ridiculously heavy door.

The aviary attached to the restaurant was lovely, with beautiful birds and pertangque pits. It made for a restful stop before heading home. Breakfast had enough variety for me to find something that worked with my dietary requirements. The restaurant food was still good, though it wasn’t quite how I remembered it.

My neighbor was watching a movie at a normal volume, but I could hear every word through the door between our rooms. People walking past could also look in through my window from the outside walkway. The building seems to be a prettied-up modular container setup, with each room opening onto that walkway. At this price, I could have had a separate room in a solid building nearby. I’m not happy with this stay.

The bed was good and the shower was good, so it’s a nice hotel. But there’s no air conditioning or fridge, things I always miss in European hotels. In the US a fridge and microwave are almost standard, and they give frequent travelers more freedom and choices.
