Domaine De La Gaucherie

We spent three relaxing days in the beautiful French countryside, with castles nearby to explore or a pool to lounge by. Aurelia was so accommodating, and the food was wonderful. The animal friends made it even more fun, and our lovely hostess made the whole stay fabulous. We enjoyed every minute.

Before heading home, we had a lovely, laid-back stay with the kids. They were happy at the pool and with the animals, and breakfast was very good. Merci et au revoir!

The kids were in their element with the toys, tractor, pool, animals and great food. We stayed two nights in the lovely wooden cottage by the lake, stopping here on our way to Dordogne. Our hostess is a wonderful cook and such a devoted animal lover. We ate dinner there both nights, and it was really, really good. At mealtimes the goose, chickens, parrot, dog, cats, pigeons and, best of all, Harry the Donkey would come by to say hello. We had a fantastic time and won’t forget Harry ❤️❤️. It was a magical start to our holiday.

We only stayed one night, and that really wasn’t long enough. The place is such a delight, quaint and rustic, but also modern, quirky and comfortable. Around the grounds were sheep, a horse and a donkey you could cuddle, plus farm animals wandering about. The chickens with their young were amusing, and two watchful dogs stood guard. There was a very sociable ginger kitten, a welcoming pool and a lovely owner. A family of three wild pigeons also comes back year after year.
