Brit Hotel Granville

At least the beds were clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly enough, but I can’t recommend this hotel. We ended up here for a business trip because our usual hotel was full, and the condition of the place was disappointing. The front door paint was chipped, the washbasin edges were worn, and the shower door handles were broken inside and had dirt gathered in them. There were dark marks around the shower taps that looked like they might be mold. We only had half a roll of toilet paper, no spare, and housekeeping didn’t replace it, so we had to ask reception. The room was cleaned only on the first day. After that, we’d leave towels on the floor as the signs instructed, but had to pick them up again at night. Breakfast was another problem. Every morning, cups were visibly dirty, and it took searching to find a clean one. Glasses and cutlery were dirty too, some cutlery was sticky, as was the cutlery box, and the cereal bowls were dirty. Hygiene left a lot to be desired. At check-in, we were told weekend breakfast started at 7:30 a.m., but the door was locked and nobody was there then or at 8. It finally opened at 8:30, and the bread still hadn’t been brought out. It appeared a few minutes later.

Granville was a great base for the Old Town, sea bathing, beaches, and some good restaurants. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Estelle, a real star 🌟 🤩 😀 😎. Breakfasts were decent and the food was okay. Our room was spacious, though the bathroom was on the small side.

The staff were friendly, and the hotel’s within walking distance of lots to do around town. Breakfast was good and reasonably priced. The rooms are small, and the Wi-Fi wasn’t great. You could hear everything in the hallway and the next room through the very thin walls.

Everything was practical and simple, and I had a quiet room. What I liked best was the free parking close by. Breakfast felt too expensive, though, and Granville was 1.5 km from where I wanted to be, so I moved downtown.
