Francois and Isabel, their daughter, and their son-in-law made us feel right at home. The traditional, old-time hotel feels like a window into the past, and we loved it for all sorts of reasons. Our room was clean, quiet, and charming. The location just outside the city suited us, and we enjoyed both breakfast and excellent dinners. A wonderful experience from beginning to end.

The owners were friendly and honest, and the location and views are amazing. But the rooms felt quite basic for something presented as premium. They have a shabby-chic look and can be noisy, which I guess comes with an old building. Our double bed was only 140 cm. We booked the premium room, and its only luxury was a coffee maker with two capsules and two paper cups. You can do better.

The owners were really sweet. They carried our suitcase upstairs and lit a fire in the shared living room, which was welcome on chilly May nights. We had a good dinner, though the restaurant felt a little awkward without music playing. It was early, so maybe the playlist had just ended. Breakfast was served on the terrace with a lovely view. The room was a decent size and had a nice view, and the huge bathroom made it easy for two people to get ready at once. It felt like staying in someone’s chateau or mansion. There’s no mini-fridge, but that wasn’t a deal breaker for us. A cute, charming place, and I’d stay again.

It felt like stepping into a romantic world, and the owners were so welcoming and sweet. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were clean, and most had stunning views. The place has an older charm, so if you need everything to be new and perfect, it may not suit you. The doors are locked when the owners aren’t there, but you get a code at check-in. Don’t be surprised if nobody is around to help right away in the middle of the day before you’ve checked in. It’s got old-school B&B vibes, and the breakfast was adorable. I can’t recommend it enough. People who gave it one star should go stay at a Marriott or something. Old-world charm, quirks and all.

Having drinks on the terrace in that picturesque setting was a highlight. We stayed in a cozy little top-floor room that was sparkling clean, though it could get a bit hot with sun all day. The Dyson Cool Tower fan in the room solved that, and seemed like a much cleaner option than AC. What a wonderful stay in a romantic, rather grand villa with amazing views. We learned Renoir lived here for a year, which makes sense. The owners were lovely and made us feel very welcome. I’m not sure what those one-star reviews were about.
