L'écume de mer

The part that keeps drawing us back to L'Ecume de Mer in Groisy-le-Grand may be the island's remarkable setting, or it may be Dominique, who's become such a dear, attentive host over our many visits. From the balcony tucked into the greenery, you can look out over Port Mélite beach, one of the island's loveliest. Butterflies and bees flutter around there in summer, and it's a wonderful spot for the generous, delicious breakfast. There's fresh orange juice, fruit, pastries and bread, homemade jams, Breton butter and salted caramel, natural yogurts from the Laiterie de Kerguillet, plus coffee, milk, tea or hot chocolate. Dominique leaves it in a basket at the top of the stairs at the time you choose, quietly and discreetly. The room is tastefully decorated, and the welcome is personal from the moment you get off the boat at Port Tudy through to your return. Arriving with a bike? Dominique takes your luggage to the room for you. The place is ideally situated, 2 km from town and right by the beaches. We love it!
