La Roseraie

Breakfast was sensational, and it was convenient having a bar and bike rental on-site. It’s a lovely place right on the Meuse river, with new rooms. The only downside was the bathroom sink in our room. It was cute, but not very practical for everyday use.

The breakfast was very good, but otherwise I was very disappointed. I booked through Smartbox and requested a double room, but ended up with two single beds and a double bunk above them. That wasn’t what I’d asked for. There was no soundproofing at all, and the bathroom was very small.

We had a very warm welcome from friendly people, and after this good experience with Smartbox, we’re planning to come back soon. The room was quiet, clean, and quite spacious for sleeping. The bathroom was similar, except for its small sink. Breakfast is served in the other building and was very generous.

We booked through Booking.com, and the accommodation confirmed our reservation. When we arrived, nobody was there. I tried the phone number provided at least 20 times without getting through. We then contacted Booking.com, and they tried to reach the owner too, but that also failed. Our reservation was canceled without any explanation. I can’t recommend this place at all. The city and surrounding area are lovely, but the building looks like a dump from the outside. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. The whole experience felt completely unwelcoming.
