Gîte des Mesanges

We’d happily stay here again. The owner was friendly and attentive, parking was right outside, and bringing our dog was no problem. The kitchen was well equipped, though ours only had two tea bags, salt, oil, and vinegar, so bring whatever you’ll need to cook or make coffee. That seemed pretty normal to me. It’s a very good price, clean, and close to a pastry shop in the town center, about a 2-minute drive or maybe a 20-minute walk. Everything worked perfectly for us, apart from the mattress, which felt a little firm. That’s just my personal preference.

We were only passing through on a walking trip along the greenway, but the welcome was really unpleasant. They provided the bare minimum, just three sheets of toilet paper, and there was no warmth at all. They were hardly available to help, then even threatened extra charges over the condition of the gîte when we left. We were also charged for linens, which Booking.com hadn’t mentioned. It felt like a money-making scheme.

There were a lot of us, and we rented three pieces of furniture for the night. No complaints, everything was as described. It’s close enough to the city center to get croissants in the morning, and there’s also Belgian fries made in France by a Belgian woman. We came away with very fond memories.

We loved the incredible view of the Ardennes mountains. The cottage was clean and fully equipped, and the owner made us feel very welcome. It’s ideal for couples, with a shared outdoor area that has a barbecue and a large table. Thanks again! Matthieu
